Excerpt from Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1967 Christmas Sermon
It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. We are made to live together because of the interrelated structure of reality. Did you ever stop to think that you can’t leave for your job in the morning without being dependent on most of the world? You get up in the morning and go to the bathroom and reach over for a sponge, and that’s handed to you by a Pacific Islander. You reach for a bar of soap, and that’s given to you at the hands of a Frenchman. And then you go in the kitchen to drink your coffee for the morning, and that’s poured in your cup by a South American. Or maybe you want tea: that’s poured in your cup by a Chinese. Or maybe you’re desirous of having cocoa for breakfast, and that’s poured in your cup by a West African. And then you reach over for your toast, and that’s given to you at the hands of an English-speaking farmer—not to mention the baker! And before you finish eating breakfast in the morning you are dependent on more than half of the world. This is the way our universe is structured. It is its interrelated quality. We aren’t going to have peace on Earth until we recognize this basic fact of the interrelated structure of all reality.

Boycott Hilton Actions and a New Boycott Spreadsheet
One of the key ways people are resisting ICE is by targeting their corporate partners that are enabling them. We have already seen that this is a successful strategy. Recently, Avelo Airlines, which signed on to do deportation flights for ICE, ended their contract with DHS. Spotify also ended their contract to do recruitment advertising for ICE. Boycotts and protests were a huge factor in these decisions.
One of the next corporate enablers of ICE we are focusing on is Hilton Hotels. Where they have been housing ICE agents, including in the Minneapolis area. Hilton also retaliated against a franchise owner in Minneapolis who refused a DHS contract.
Here are some ways to help the Hilton Boycott:
Do not book with Hilton or any of their brands.
Cancel and switch any hotel stays already booked if possible.
If you do cancel or switch, be sure to tell Hilton it is because of their support of ICE/DHS.
Cancel your “Hilton Honors” membership.
If you have ever stayed at a Hilton brand hotel, there is a good chance you have a Hilton Honors account.
This is their free rewards program, and as you can tell by how every store strongly pushes people to sign up for these free reward programs, it is an important part of Hilton’s strategy to ensure brand loyalty.
Search “Hilton Honors” in your email; they list your member number at the top left of their emails usually.
Email hiltonhonors@hilton.com with your membership number and request them to cancel your membership, and be sure to mention you are canceling because of their support of ICE/DHS. You can also try calling 1-800-446-6677; however, they refused to help me when I called last week.
Tell friends and family about the Hilton Boycott, and share #BoycottHilton on social media.
If you are feeling extra spicy, you can also look into hosting a protest at a Hilton using this guide shared by We the People Dissent, or joining the Sunrise Movement in booking up rooms with free cancellation at specific Hilton hotels in Minneapolis and canceling last minute.

(NEW) Donation Advocacy Guide
I have put together a new “Raindrop” guide on using donations as a part of your advocacy plan.
I have had a few people tell me they want to donate more money to help make a difference, but that they were not sure where to give, or if it would even help.
So here is a guide I wrote exploring how to set up your own giving plan, ways to make it easier to give more, the major categories of where you can give to, and exploring some of the major impacts these organizations already are having.
These organizations and mutual aid groups are the engines of our resistance, and cash and volunteers are the fuel they need to run. Please join me in finding ways to give more.
Easy Resistbot Emails, Easy “5 Calls App” Calls
Emails:
Resistbot is a tool to quickly send emails to your representatives. Text “Resist” to 50409 to set up your free profile! Not as impactful as a phone call, but resistbot makes it easy to do.
Here is a guide I have put together on how to use the “Following” feature on Resistbot to turn this minimal-effort action into an almost zero-effort action!
Phone Calls:
Even easier to set up is the “5 Calls App”, which makes calling your representatives SO MUCH EASIER! This app automatically connects you to your specific representatives, and provides you with a script to work from, as well as an executive summary on the issue with timely updates. Highly recommended.
If you are looking for more frequent updates on unique actions to take, or for phone scripts different from the 5 Calls App, I highly recommend Chop Wood, Carry Water or Rogan's List .
I am grateful you are here.
Thank you,
Chris 🌻

This is incredibly thorough! That MLK quote about being dependent on half the world before finishing breakfast really hits different when you think about how connected our actions are to corporate policies. I've been looking for pratical ways to turn frustration into action and these guides are exactly what I needed. Appriciate the clear steps and links!
